It’s Important that you have your direction set firmly from the Off-set.
The 5 ‘W’ s
So when you are setting your vision out, let’s establish the key factors of How you Intend on operating your webstore. So, let’s take a pen and your notebook and write down Five different categories under which you can note down ideas.
These will be the 5 ‘Ws
- Who will You Sell to?
- What will You Sell?
- Where will You Sell it?
- Why will You Sell It
- When Will You Sell It
What will You Sell?
So, First of all, if you don’t already have a product or products in mind that you wish to sell, then it’s time to decide. The possibilities are endless when it comes to this. Pretty much anything you can think of that you can buy normally offline, and isn’t illegal (although even illegal sells on the dark net, but I don’t encourage that), then there’s a market for it online.
Who will You Sell to?
A key guiding factor in your business is Who you will be selling to. Give some thought to who your audience will be so that you know who you’re reaching out to. Finding your audience is vital in securing long term business and establishing your customer base.
Where Will You Sell It?
You should give some thought to the whereabouts of the audience you want to pitch to.You may be selling services that would benefit a local audience. However, if you are selling something far less geographically based, then you’d be better pitching to the worldwide audience.
Why Sell It?
Some products and services can be sold in conjunction with various events or current affairs. Perhaps even the weather forecast may determine the demand for certain sales. By establishing the ‘Why’s with our customer base, we can better plan our marketing strategy.
Although the ‘Why’s aren’t always such an Important factor, they can in some cases be pivotal. The things people Buy may often be influenced by current affairs, events or other such things. Sometimes even the weather can be a deciding factor on what consumers buy.
When Will It Sell?
If you plan on selling certain items that are seasonal or festive, the the ‘When’ is also a good factor in how you run your business. This will often Involve careful planning and strategy in your marketing. For instance, you may be selling Christmas Gifts. You will want to plan well ahead in marketing your products to make the most of the Christmas shopping rush.
